It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

It needed until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a platform to create her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have come from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort can be debated.

Certain people claim the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a disappointing period because it seemed I've had no rhythm whatsoever," said Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive nature activate and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from that point Healy was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was removed the team required another 66 at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if we do, we are confident we can do it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this tournament need to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this victory succeeding success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have delayed plans to retire, this World Cup is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as captain.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
